Hmm not noticeably more, but as that's an easy fix I'll start there in the morning

My mystery squeak turned out to be the drivers side very back seat (7 seater) - strange, the squeaks sounded much closer, I could swear they were coming from the front (sounds really do carry far in a Defender).

Thanks, will check that too.
Bigger priority right now though is the rear windscreen, which shattered while out in the snow this afternoon |

I thought i had a dashboard squeak but it turned out to be the bolt in the corner of the roof(front left) coming loose. At least i can fix the leaks while the headlining is out. 130 crew cab

I had a similar mystery squeak, it turned out to be the passenger side rear seat. It was coming from somewhere in the hinge mechanism.
It took ages to find however, because it appeared to be coming from all over the place. I needed the help of the missus to find it. Funny acoustics in these Defenders. |

I was very proud when mine started squeaking - finally a REAL defender
Exactly as you described (in fact I have 2). They sound like they're coming from the front because the sound bounces off the windscreen in front of you. I've got cargo barriers, window guards, tool boxes... in the back so I've given up trying to find it One that started out as a 2.4 TDCi 110 XS + New Defender 110 First Edition |

I think others might have mentioned this in other posts but on some vehicles the OBD II (on board diagnostics) connector port below the steering column dash section above the pedals (under the cover) can rattle/squeek as the securing bolt loosens with time. Mine did this on my 07 Defender. I found it when I fitted up a ScanGauge II unit to the port. Since then the rattle has ceased. Worth checking just in case.

Thanks all, seems like I'm looking for a needle in a haystack of squeaking needles, but when it warms up I'll get started.
In the meantime I'm still waiting for a new rear windscreen from Landrover. They reckon they cant get through the snow and I wont have one until Tuesday! I found that irritating, cold, but slightly ironic |

You can get a squeak coming from the dashboard area when your higes get very dry. Squirk some WD40 or similar stuff on the hinge rubbers where they swivel. That should sort one of your squeaks. 1982 88" 2.25 diesel

Ref: OBD connector squeak/rattle. On my 2010 it is just a push fit into a holder. Found out when I fitted a Scangauge. Flap cannot close with connector plugged in so pushed the OBD connector out and took it behind the speaker where there is a big space to accommodate the OBD connector with the Scangauge connector plugged in.

My TD5 sqeaked in hot weather when the trim on the steering wheel expanded enough to rub slightly on the binnacle trim. Cured by silicone grease.

I had a very similar "squeek"......like a mouse. Took the whole dash apart and NOTHING.
It was the bonnet hinge where the plastic insert is!!!!!!!!! A little silicone grease and it's GONE. Was driving me nuts for weeks.........became obsessed with it. |

I've another very annoying squeak coming from the 2 front doors (2003 110 Crew cab)It's driving me nuts, especially now that I have sound deadening and disco gears fitted. I'm fitting 2011 bottom door seals tomorrow, any other ideas? Yet again thanks in advance for any help
