The modulator is only fitted to Discovery Td5, not Defender.

Cheers. Thats one less thing to buy then Where does the pipe that goes onto the wastegate connect to then? There is a T in the brake vacuum pipe that does not have anything connected to it, is it to here? 1996 Defender 130 converted to TD5 and auto 1975 Triumph Stag 3.0 V8 |

It goes to the intercooler metal hose that with rubber comes from the turbo to the intercooler UK passenger side.

As Pete said,
The T in the vacuum pipe is for the EGR Valve I would think. Andy |

I may be being thick here but I am pretty sure (until I have a look tomorrow) that the two pipes on the egr valve go to the modulator on the wing (two solenoid modulator). I can't see where a pipe from the 'T' in the brake vacuum servo pipe connects to. Microcat and the manual don't shed any light on this matter... 1996 Defender 130 converted to TD5 and auto 1975 Triumph Stag 3.0 V8 |

The vac pipe on the brake pipe has a T near the alternator but landrover do do a pipe without the T fitted.

in the picture you can see two red arrows, the T is behind the top red arrow hidden by the larger black pipe. the bottom red arrow is what has been taken off the T. From the T it goes to the solonide on the inner wing.
Dont worry about it, blank the egr valve and vacuum hose and remove the vacuum pipes and solonides totaly Click image to enlarge |

Thanks again Pete Is the connector a little right angled boot, as I found one lying on the floor the other day before the engine went in, so hopefully will find a pipe with no connector on the end.... 1996 Defender 130 converted to TD5 and auto 1975 Triumph Stag 3.0 V8 |

Looking at the pipe work for the egr modulator on the wing and I have found this:
The two clear/white tubes are connected by a joiner and then the one white tube has been plugged into a joiner that has two green tubes coming into it from the modulator. The 't' on the brake vacuum pipe is unconnected to anything. Two blue tubes go to the egr valve as normal. Is this someone's attempt at by-passing something? Should it be connected up as per the Haynes manual? Cheers...Al 1996 Defender 130 converted to TD5 and auto 1975 Triumph Stag 3.0 V8 |

I would remove the egr valve, and all the pipe work completely.
Then get vac hose that does not have the "T" in it. Andy |

I probably will eventually, but for now I just need to get it connected up so that I can get the engine running asap. Can I leave it like it is (done by previous owner), and blank off the T in the servo pipe? 1996 Defender 130 converted to TD5 and auto 1975 Triumph Stag 3.0 V8 |

Yes, most do just that. It is only the nicer kits that come with new vac hose.
