Scangauge...who has one....
...and where did you mount it in your Puma?

I just got mine, and am looking for inspiration.

Jimbo.

I have one in my Puma.. Mounted just in front of the cubby cup holders. Purposely put there so the thieving scrotes don't get tempted to pop a window and remove it for me!
I made a small pcb type plug to replace the huge OBDii plug as supplied.. Saves having to pop the diagnostic port off its mounting bracket..

Here's a link to the piccies over on the "other place".. Twisted Evil http://www.landroveraddict.com/smf/index.php?topic=390315.0 Twisted Evil

Hey Vinicio.

That's exactly where mine landed too.

I have to say I like it.

Paul, Have you any details about how you made the new plug?

OOPS... seems that you need to be logged into "the other side" in order to see the pics..

I used a program called Sprint Layout to design the board.. The actual board was made using some copperclad fibreglass PCB, and etch resist transfers, with the etching done in ferric chloride.. Sounds complicated, but it's really easy to do.. The hardest bit was ripping the OBD2 plug apart without destroying all the connections inside.. The good thing is that I now have the correct internal pinout for the plug.
I'll knock up a PDF next week if anyone's interested in making one.

me too. But this looks far too complicated for my pea brain. Would you consider fabricating one for me? I'll buy you some fine wine?

Thanks for posting. It made me focus on the problem of the OBD plug which has been bugging me for a while.

I simply bought an OBD plug - http://www.jaycar.com.au/products_uploaded/productLarge_9718.jpg
Inside there is a PCB which saves making one. Did not fancy cutting up the original scangauge cable so I also bought a Cat 5 Ethernet patch cable which fits into the scangauge and simply cut off one end and wired that to my new plug. All done in an hour and no more removing the speaker every time to access the OBD. Thumbs Up

Shax, have you done a pdf file? If you have can I have a copy? Ordered a scangauge today, so should come next week sometime and this would save me removing the OBDII socket. I have some cat5 ethernet patch cables already and just need to order a OBDII socket.

Also is this the correct wiring for the Puma:

Pin Signal Description
2 J1850 Bus+
4 CGND Chassis ground
5 SGND Signal ground
6 CAN High J-2284
7 K-LINE (ISO 9141-2 and ISO/DIS 14230-4)
10 J1850 Bus-
14 CAN Low J-2284
15 ISO 9141-2 L-LINE (ISO 9141-2 and ISO/DIS 14230-4)
16 +12v Battery power

Hi all, sorry for not delivering the PDF as promised.. Bloody computer had a meltdown.. Still trying to get access to the files needed.. As soon as I get into the drive, I'll get it sorted.. failing that, as soon as I get a free weekend, I'll see if I can get the photos, and diagrams made up from scratch again.
