simillar problems with broken engine head.
That's a concern! 
Got to remember all that diesel bug looking crap in your tank is still in the system.
Going to clean tank next weekend.

Quick update - I still have an issue, which I suspect is going to be a little harder to diagnose... been out on two separate trips recently with exactly the same issue and how it occurs

Just quick follow up to say thanks to all for the advice and tips - running well now the last week - it doesn't do much mileage really, but running smooth as a Defender can right now anyway

Well... success!!
Looks like it was the fuel pump... old one looks pretty nasty with gunk on the bottom. So will probably go source a VDO model now.

| Did you locate your fuel pump relay and properly check it for signs of scorching etc? I know you said you had 3 relays, but not sure if you pulled the fuel pump and looked at the pins, socket and wire ... |

Checked fuel pump fuse - got 21.2mV across the fuse, which seems in range.

Look here -
Fuse 10 is the suggested fuse to check, but I'm guessing that's different in a Disco2 versus a Defender? Anyone know which fuse is correct for a defender fuel pump?
