Hi All,
my 2 year old oilsump (genuine) is already very rusty again. Lots of salt, snow, rain and dirt on our roads do their job well. The miserable quality of steel helps also In the course of a nuts & bolt restoration (ongoing project), I partially overhauled the motor and put him back to where he belongs. I then donated a new oilsump (LR007598) from Autodoc and received a VAICO-sump without the big “dent” in it. See pics. Between the front propshaft and the oilsump is still around 10-12cm space. N.B.: Springs and shocks are new. Is this “dent” a must have -means only Genuine LR-Part- or will there never be contact between propshaft and oilsump to be feared? Why is this dent in the genuine sump? Thanks in advance Ron Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge |

See second post down from blackwolf https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic74975...t=sump+pan.
Unfortunately Your new one is not suitable , you need one like your original. Also you don’t need a genuine LR one, plenty of correct shaped aftermarket ones on the net. |

Hi MK & IanH,
thanks you both for answering. I just ordered a genuine pan and will 2k-paint it immediatly. BTW not only for removing the pan and seals, Mikes tool* is very usefull. I used it all the time while taking apart the good ol' rusty 07 Cheers Ron *=britrest-dot-com/product/dismantling-tool |

When I replaced my sump, I gave it a quick rub down and sprayed it with Buzzweld CIO, that was a few years ago and its still mint now.
This thread has reminded me, I replaced mine with a Bearmach one I don't know if it had the all important dent or not.... Must check 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS |
