That's good to hear. Hopefully it hasn't messed up your holiday too much. Thumbs Up Eiger Grey MY23 D250 SE with bits. Known as Noddy.

Had a nice chat in my terrible French with the very lovely dealership in St Etienne (a much nicer experience than when I bought the car in Hatfield).

They loved the V8, hadn’t seen one before; cleaned it better than when it left the factory, drained and refilled the oil and told me that this was a “famous” Land Rover fault and all it needed was a software update.

The 3 hour drive back to the house was a bit of a PITA as was the two trains and two taxis to get there but I have it back and it is all working again so we can drive home tomorrow.

In case anyone ever has this fault hopefully this thread can set their mind at rest.

I am glad you got your Defender back.😊
Draining the oil and refilling did the trick for me as well.

You’ve been very unlucky to have had problems with two cars Madcal. I hope this one is now fixed for good and you grow to love it as much as I do mine. Having said that though, mine goes in on Tuesday for a replacement bonnet release cable, having waited for one as was on back order, but also to investigate a ‘clunk’ from the rear transmission. This recently started when turning left uphill but now happens more frequently in different traffic situations. We’ll see what they say……..

Thanks chaps. She did 8 hours at around 140km/h today all dials in the green, and we are now back home.

Hope your clunk gets sorted.

Appreciate all the replies. I don’t want to go onto a wider and more populous forum and feed the anti-LR trolls with more reliability woes, but it is good to firstly have a moan with people who get it and secondly get some advice and ideas.

Enjoy your weekends, hope you are all watching the British GP tomorrow.

A positive end and hopefully the last of any issues. I sourced a Carpathian V8 for my boss and it’s been faultless. Such a lovely thing to drive and that sound…
