I thought id post this up on here, as some of you lads will have had these as 1st cars, and even remember when the mk1 fiesta came out,

Seems odd they are stopping making these, they were always a big seller and so popular.
Over the years I have owned a mk2, mk3, mk4 and 5 Fiesta and my partner currently has a 65 reg ecoboost one which is a great car. I still have a soft spot for the mk2 XR2  2004 Defender 90 Td5 CSW

Progress I suppose. I can remember the same nostalgia when the Anglia, the Zephyr, the Zodiac, the Corsair, the Capri, the Cortina, the Escort, and even the Granada came to an end.
I'm not quite long enough in the tooth to have been nostalgic about the Popular though! |

as a former driver of a Mk2 Ford Escort popular (1976 vintage) back in 1977 I think this is where my like of basic vehicles comes from! As I recall it had one door mirror, one internal sun visor , no chrome , no radio, no heated rear screen and vinyl seats. (edit -and 1.1 engine)
This might explain why my series one is often the vehicle of choice above the Defender or the Focus with all known features fitted as standard  2010 XS USW

I took (and passed) my driving test in a Mk2 Escort, cracking little car. Basic, but did everything it needed to well.

They'll make something which is the spiritual successor but with a different name, just like JLR now calls the Freelander the Discovery Sport (and calls the natural successor to the Discovery the Defender).

Procta, yes they were cheap fun boy racer bangers by 1997 so loads got scrapped soon after due to the terminal rot! 2004 Defender 90 Td5 CSW

I had a Mk1 and Mk2 XR2 and liked both of them. The Mk1 was more basic and ‘pure’ and the Mk2 was nice and more refined (still had windy windows) but we were at that point when performance Fords were starting to look like hovercrafts with all the external plastic. I had lots of fun with them.

Mk3 XR2i's were garbage as lots of Fords of that era were........no idea why people have rose tinted glasses about Blue Oval values??

This is right as i spoke to a mate in the Ford showroom and he said the same, the puma suv has took over big time from the fiesta 
Apart from Millie there are 3 fiesta MK8's in the family  1996 Golf Blue 300Tdi 110 Pick up.
