United Kingdom 2015 Defender 90 Puma 2.2 HT Keswick Green
Here we go again...
After being Defender-less for a few years and still waiting for my 663 90HT to arrive, and the dealer being none the wiser as to when the gods at JLR will bestow said vehicle on them, needs and man logic dictated that a Puma filled the gap (with plans to keep it even when the 663 arrives).

After having a 90 SW and a soft top, I'd set my heart on a hardtop in either Aintree or Keswick. Looked at a few duds but then what appeared to be a decent 2015 XS in Aintree popped up. Took a mini roadtrip to look at it and bar a few typical Defender issues and couple of tiny dings, it was a good honest 90 and owned by a decent chap who was just finding it a little too agricultural.

Did the deal and brought it home a few days later.

Haven't done much thus far other than give the interior a really good clean and replaced a few minor missing parts: seat recline handle and carpet fir trees.

Other than having some carpeted panelling in the load area, it is unmodified. It has the Landmark seats from new and I'm surprised at how comfortable they are.

Now that the weather is cooling, I have plans to give the exterior a good clean and put a layer of wax on it. Absolutely love Aintree Green and had forgotten just how much it varies in different lights - from a real sparkle to almost looking black in low light.

Still not sold on the nudge bar and have a feeling that will be coming off and in standard Defender ownership, I have some plans for it, which I am sure will evolve over time.

The practicality of the HT is ideal and I'd forgotten just how much I enjoy driving a Defender 90.

Looks very nice and does indeed look closer to black than green in that photo.

What wheels are fitted? I can't quite make them out - are they black-painted Boosts or something more exotic? Darren

Black painted Boosts. Did JLR offer them as factory a factory option?

Aintree is the best colour for a 90. Love it.

Lovely! I would be taking off the nudge bar. They slowly crack and disintegrate, and new ones are not cheap. Charlie

It is already showing signs of minor deterioration - the external layer is already wearing in small patches.

I can see the purpose but to me they remind me of when they added massive rubber bumpers to MGBs - like a giant rubber anchor on the front of an attractive car.

Ah, they're not Boosts. They look like SVX wheels that have been painted black. They're unlikely to be original to the vehicle (Boosts were standard on the XS) and I don't think were ever offered in black from the factory. Darren

Many of the run-out Puma's appear on SVX alloys from the factory so potentially they were doing deals on old stock??
My 2016 had them fitted and listed on original bill of sale

The should be silver / contrast

Ah, didn't know that. They could be original then, just not in their original colour. Darren

Makes sense.

It is XS spec with Premium / Landmark seats, so it seems like either the first owner did a decent spec or the dealer was being given incentives to throw on extras a reduced costs (SVX wheels and nudge bar).

From the condition, and mileage, I don't believe it is has done a lot of hard work in it life.

I assumed, wrongly, that the black wheels were factory because nothing else is black on the 90 (grills are standard XS silver, as is lettering); however, perhaps one of the previous owners fancied black wheels and had them painted. The seller, whom I purchased it from, had purchased it via an AD and it has full JLR history, so unless they broke from their used car checks and guarantee, the wheels would have to be genuine for them to sell the car as an approved dealer.
