Hi, just annoyingly failed the MOT on near side position light not working. Tried a new bulb but no voltage reaching it at all.
Anyone else had this? |

Does the numberplate lamp work ok?
If so look at the bulb holder, perhaps swap the entire bulb and holder from the other side. 1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top 2015 D90 XS SW |

Yes number plate working ok.
I’ve swapped it with the working one from the other side and that’s dead too. Guess I will have to try and trace back the cable |

Click image to enlarge Found the original wiring for the side light hanging loose behind the headlight. Plugged it in and it works. For some reason the side light was connected to the orange and black wires on the far right of the photo. That’s why it wasn’t working. Anyone have any idea what these wires are or why someone would connect them to the side light? |

The orange/black and black is the alarm sounder. Just been reconnected incorrectly- worth a check behind there and see if you have the sounder and reconnect it. 1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top

They must have done it at the mot place lol. Many thanks. I’ll try and connect it back up to the alarm.
