Dimensions are in the manual. Should be fine at 1.98m - particular if you use access mode which drops it another few inches.

‘A few inches’ is a bit of an exaggeration, it’s actually lowered by 40mm in access height. A clearance of 9mm in normal height is a bit tight and it depends on how accurate the measurement is in the car park. They often have a bar on chains at the entrance set at the safe height so would be worth trying that out gently, at normal height, since one of you might forget to set access height before you drive in sometime in the future. |

I changed my XC90 for a new Defender. I have no issues parking in the same places. The main car park I use in Bath is 1.90 cm and I have no issue parking with the suspension down. Eiger Grey MY23 D250 SE with bits. Known as Noddy.

Would you go for air suspension, or coils?
I park a lot in central London and for a 110 with air sus the height of the top of the roof antena at access height = 1.93m. I get into most carparks without issue. There are a few 1.90 carparks I won't bother with - they're usually crap old carparks which will guarantee door dings if you do squeeze in. And there's a 1.93 carpark in Brighton (Churchill Square) Where everything is fine except a stupid 'height check' bar on the exit ramp on the top floor (i.e. you have to drive through the whole carpark to get up there) which is NOT 1.93! 1.98 is FINE, even in normal height. |

There's no getting away from the fact these are chunky monkeys. With pretty bit doors, which can make some carparks a bit of a pain. However, the sensors and cameras are useful and the visbibility is surprisingly very good. Track width is 6'6" / 2m. There are some aggressive width restrictors popping up here an there (lots in london) - the narrowest I've found are 6'6" / 2m. Most have a bit of extra tolerance added in. But the Def will fit through. I've learnt that the offroad camera live view of the edges of the front wheels is very useful. I'm also told that raising the suspension to offroad height will slightly positively camber the wheels a touch, giving you a few mm more in a pinch. (Alternatively, get 18s like I did and you can drive over pretty much anything that gets in your way!) I actually found the Defender easier to navigate with cameras than my old bmw 4 series. |
