Gearbox Removal
I have just started a chassis replacement.

Firstly, I noticed that the crossmember below my gearbox was back to front.
When I turned it around I saw a gap between the crossmember and gearbox and thought I had a missing mounting but posts elsewhere on the site have explained that this is not the case.

Now here is my question.
I have to remove the engine.
That is easy enough as I have done it twice already.
I also need to remove the gearbox but I'm not sure how I will support it.
Back around 1975 I removed the engine and gearbox together from a Morris Minor.
I then separated them off the vehicle.
Is it possible to do this on a Puma?

When I did my chassis replacement I swapped engine/gearbox across as one unit because I didn't have any reason to split them. Not sure why you would do it any differently (apart from the Puma remote T/box?).

Body off, axles off, lower chassis to ground, lift engine and G/box, drag out old chassis, move in new chassis, reverse previous sequence......

Simples. Did it outdoors on my drive with just a borrowed engine hoist and standard hand tools.
