Blimey that is a lot of diesel
But if it ain’t broke don’t fix it - I wish I’d taken heed of this age old advice! The issue, as seems to be the case with everything these days, is quality assurance isn’t it. You put your faith in a “specialist company” and they sell you toss. At least when injectors come out of the Denso factory you can have some level of confidence that they are right. > 110 XS Double Cab |

Defender developed a clunk at the front end which seemed to happen when changing direction (forward and reverse).
Was tricky to diagnose/locate but turned out that the radius arm bolts at the axle end were loose. Looks as though the mechanic that fitted my superpro polybush kit tightened the bolts finger tight Another reason why I prefer to undertake maintenance myself > 110 XS Double Cab |

Even when I do I now mark all my major bolts on vital components with torque seal paint, its such a good sanity check.

Flew through the MOT once again
Had an advisory for drag link ball joint so thinking of sticking a sumo bar kit on. Also had an advisory for tyres protruding beyond wheel arches… In other news Fred joined the clan on the 9th June at 8lb 2oz. Click image to enlarge > 110 XS Double Cab |

I hope Fred comes with a good warranty and after service from the dealer? Have you got any mods planned yet?!

Fred looks well and exactly the correct size to easily carry out works such as Discovery drop arm conversion and Sumo Bar installation 👍

Boring update. Two new genuine DENSO injectors to replace the remaining two shonky PF Jones remanufactured ones left in my engine.

Wheel boxes and rack are done and it wasn’t as bad a bad job as I had anticipated.
To be honest the rack and wheel box pinions were in pretty good condition. However the drivers side spindle had seized. Pair of new wheelboxes and a new rack fitted so should be right for another 15 years. I didn’t get many pics as I was mainly working by torchlight Dash pulled forward Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Old rack - condition wasn’t too bad but replaced with a new genuine JLR part anyway. Been a bit light on updates recently - who would have thought a baby would be so time consuming?
2000 miles covered this year and another MOT passed. Can't say I really prepped for it either other than a good wash. She's been running sweet as a nut. Advisory for slight play in a drag link ball joint so could be a good excuse to fit sumo bars. Thinking of going back to a slightly less modified appearance with ET0 wolfs, narrower BFG MT's, removal of the winch etc and go back to a standard bumper. To be confirmed. > 110 XS Double Cab |
