Galvanized bolts in the vicinity of stainless will tent to sacrifice the zinc coating of the bolts faster, although the washer size (surface area) is not that large, so the effect may not be visible that soon. Just fyi.

There are zinc plated bolts, which tend to rust in no time, and then there are hot dipped galvanized bolts, which have a decent zinc coating. Example (local site): https://eshop.wuerth.com.mt/din-933-steel-88-hot-dip-galvanised 1988 90 Hard Top, 19J Diesel Turbo, Shire Blue - Restoration ongoing

If you can cope with the Defender being off the road for a few days, you can remove, blast and then get your existing bolts Re-coated. Zylan coating seems to be the most resistant coating currently available, but not many places do it.

Anyway, if you get them re-coated, then just spray som Dynax UC on them https://bilthamber.com/product/dynax-uc/
This will keep them in good condition for about 12 months, before you need to re-spray with UC again. πŸ‘[/url]

It would be cheaper to buy new 8.8 BZP fasteners than clean up the existing ones. Then treat them as suggested above.

Why not talk with SD, post them a few photographs, I found them very helpful sorting out a Roof Rack issue a ew years ago. NormanD WE191
