Programme a new key Fob
I mamaged to lose my set of keys in the mud last week and now only have the one set Sad .

I managed to get new keys cut from the local high street and have got a hold of a key fob Lucas 17TN type.
The fob needs to be programmed but how?

I have looked round the web and just got myself more confused.

Is there someone on this forum who has done this and has a surefired method.

Very grateful for any help, if there are concerns re security please PM me.

As far as I am aware they can only be programmed through the AS10 module meaning you need to take it to the dealer or to some one who lives local to you, with a shiny new Nanocom evolution unit who would be willing to help you Whistle
Now who on here stays close to the Greenock area with a nanocom Whistle

Can anyone point me towards the link for programming an integrated key, using a Nanocom? Just can't seem to find it.

IIRC,
Go into the 10AS module with the ignition off. Find plip learn and have all your plips at hand. Start plip learn and press the lock button on the plip until the horn sounds and/or the hazards flash, this plip has been learned. Also this has to be done with no RF interference, so you may have to move the vehicle to get the plip and 10AS to communicate. Do the next plip straight after the previous one has been learned, up to a maximum of 4. You have to relearn all the plips when you do this otherwise only the new one will work as that is the only one learned. Once all the plips have been learned click on finish/write settings. Try all the plips. Thumbs Up

Isn't it the generic sound that a lot of car alarms make when armed? Press the button and 'plip'.

Not on Defenders (or any Land Rovers) though. Darren

Yes and No!

After many attempts I've ended up with the old ones working (again) and the new one can lock and unlock the car. However, when I tried to use it to start the car it didn't work. I wonder whether it is something to do with the corrupted file as mentioned on the Nanocom website. But, when I connect the Nanocom to my PC (no external power supply connected at that time) I can't get the Nanocom to be recognised by the PC. I have tried it with a second computer, but it is exactly the same.

Any suggestions?

Not all 17TN keyfobs are the same.
YWX101220 which is the correct part number for a defender has a built in immobilser chip as well as the radio transmitter.
YWX101200 is a freelander 2001 on keyfob which hasn't got the immobiliser chip.

If you have the latter, it will work the central locking/alarm, but not the passive immobiliser.

If programmed for the alarm.central locking & is working, the immobilser chip should work also.

Did you upgrade the nanocom to the BBS software? Does the nanocom light up with the external power supply connected and powered up? Also did the garage re instate everything in the 10AS once they found the pin fault?

Far as I know the AS10 is working fine. The Nanocom is lighting up an d says it's connected. The thing is the PCs don't recognise the device.
