It could be the linkage needs lubricant or the wiring loom to the actuator is damaged through rubbing, the latter does happen , see posts by Blackwolf, so I would check loom first, lube linkage and see if that resolves issues before purchasing parts.

It’s very often just the diaphragm in the actuator, so pretty cheap to DIY. Also check for leaks on the vacuum hoses to the turbo as that can cause the same fault.

No diaphragm on a Puma, it's electronically controlled by means of a stepper motor.

if its lots of short journeys it may be the vanes are coked up and preventing the actuator from doing what it should?
thats what happened to mine. thankfully mine was under warranty. and I believe this is another benefit of doing away with the egr. |

Just had a similar problem on the wife’s Audi. Main dealer diagnosed it as turbo fault and quoted £2500 to replace it!
Went to a local garage and he suggested spraying the living daylights out of the actuator and the arm etc with wd40, leave it to do its stuff over night, give it a good run then spray it with acf or gt85 to protect it. Guess what, it worked! Got to be worth a try! “a committee is a group of people who individually can do nothing, but as a group decide nothing can be done.” |

Thanks all. Removing the turbo and replacing the actuator seems relatively straightforward.

But if the actuator is just sticking due to some corrosion then……. “a committee is a group of people who individually can do nothing, but as a group decide nothing can be done.”

You don't need to remove the turbo to replace the actuator. |
