Thanks! Here are a few pictures of the chassis JLR Classic sent me as I bought the car unseen.

Would you mind taking some pictures of the P38 steering box adaption and how the lower steering column exits through the inner wheel well please?

Awaiting for the car to be registered which takes a while apparently because it is a modified vehicle.
Then she goes to Chris Zagato, then back to JLR Classic and hopefully I can make some time available to pick her up sometime next month.

If you watch the Goodwood video in the first couple of posts, go to 4m18s there a good view of it on the chassis.

AFAIK the P38 box is used to make space in the engine bay. Blackbird ind. make a conversion adapter for the P38 box which may or may not have been supplied to JLR classic works. 1989 90 4.3 V8

Yes not the most imformative really JLR seem to keep the steering adaption's on a need to know basis.

Yes the main purpose is to free up space for the engine conversion but the P38 box is much better built than the Defender Adwest unit

CSK, you are a lucky man.

I think the cost is irrelevant if you can afford it because you or your kids will still be enjoying it in 50 years time.

I have never ever seen one up close, not even mine!
Seen all the reviews, watched all the videos I could find.
I had the same line of thought when considering the purchase, part of me said don’t, it’s just a silly purchase, then started thinking how a Works Defender would be a keeper.
What’s more sustainable than a Series Land Rover or a Defender, you can keep them on the road forever. Providing we can still fill the fuel tank.

absolutely beautiful - I'm wishing I was in your shoes (at least on the day of collection).

2 thoughts - ethanol....so the future is bright in respect of filling the tank,
those shiny axles......I presume they aren't the ones that have the ends fall off (the non-friction welded ones)?
