Just an EGR delete that was already ‘fitted’ when I bought my 130, being an early TD5 there’s no CAT and I’m planning a full stainless exhaust, very tempted by a mild stage 1 remap just to help a bit with the hills, being a camper I’m pretty much permanently above 3 tonne, just a bit more power in the right places and better throttle response would make all the difference, despite being a 10p engine it has a nnn ECU so easy enough to do but I’m hesitant as I don’t want to affect my reliability.

@Lwb96 how you finding the GTB? Pretty impressive turbos

Yeah it's great to see the variety and preferences people have.

On the fence wether or not to just get a remap or go full hog with VNT, driveability definitely a priority as per Christ's post.

Really don't want to turn it into s p#ssing competition about tuners though.

Keep them coming lads!

Its expensive but definitely worth doing imo. Or go for a Hybrid, Empire so a good deal and they go very well. Instagram @defender_ventures

I'm in Ireland so I will be dealing with a European tuner, Brexit is a nightmare for us getting anything from the UK now unfortunately.

I was running a hybrid before which was good but the 550 was a whole new level. When it spools you know about it Very Happy , it pulls like a train (dynoed at 554nm). I’m very happy with it, good job I’ve got a atb to get the power down Laughing . I think one of the best mods for a td5 is a good map completely changes the drive ability but once you start playing with turbos they become completely different again.

Ayyye i know the feeling!

My D2 came with lockers, soon as I could swapped the rear for an ATB actually puts power down now instead of just spinning the wheels Laughing need a front one next!

Gary did some great work with that 550, even if it is pricey its very, very good! Instagram @defender_ventures

I have no idea what map mine has. It's been tuned at some point but by who or what I don't know. The map is a bit Censored on the bottom end, at low revs under load it always feels like it's on the edge of stalling.

It has an alisport intercooler, and I have an alisport rad on order, plus Roose Motorsport hoses waiting to go on when the rad arrives.

I'll then be looking at booking it in to alive for a turbo and tune.

What's everyone done about their raised air intake - I currently have a safari snokle which I would like to retain, I am guessing I need to up the diameter of the intake to airbox pipe?

I already have a Winchester Gears Stage 1 R380 and Stage 2 Transfer box and a Demand straight though stainless exhaust.

Dropped my truck off at Alive today for power and suspension goodness!

An initial dyno run showed 180 bhp on stock turbo and their stage 2 tune from a few years ago.

I also have a safari snorkel. After the GTB450 is installed they are going to test it on the dyno with and without the snorkel to check the airflow. Worst case is to unclip where the snorkel feeds into the airbox.. and remember to fasten it again if I ever go wading through deep water!!

I'll update next week when I know the results... TD5 hardtop to Puma inspired Poptop - my build thread
