Llandovery to Elan via the Trecastle Roman road is a good one.
There’s a YouTube page called ‘4x4 wales’ that does Tours of Wales off road and films them. 2008 2.4 110 Utility Station Wagon XS. |

I think that it’s YouTube that my mate has been watching to get these lane names from. But I don’t know how to locate them from their names. |

That all depends where you're starting from of course, but probably. They're at opposite ends of the country too. |

It appears it not just me that doesn’t know the Lanes by their names then, or it’s a big secret. Must say I’m surprised.

Water breaks its neck is a waterfall in Radnor forest east of Llandrindod Wells, and a long lane passing by it takes its name. It broadly runs from the A44 up to the A488. Elan valley is probably referring to the long one along the side of the claerwen reservoir, just west of Rhyader. There is also a good one that starts with a ford just below the Claerwen dam. ![]() No idea on the others I’m afraid. I’d suggest joining GLASS and then you’ll get access to trail wise, which is a very good mapping and route planning tool. |

Thanks Retroanaconda.
You’ve confirmed some of my thinking and added some helpful information. From memory of my previous membership of GLASS they didn’t list the lanes by names. Am I correct in thinking that, Or am I wrong and they do? |

Much of the content in Trailwise (GLASS) is based on members input and there are names of lanes in those I’ve looked at.
Worth the membership to support the great work they do and helping keep our lanes open and useable - even if it will only be for a finite period. |
