Not to mention the application of an increase to remove the 2.5% VAT reduction countermeasure that was never removed when the VAT went back up to 17.5% and now 20% - so effectively we are paying 22.5% VAT on fuel as well as any increase.
I would also be lobbying for the max price of fuel promise and for that to be set around 30p lower a litre than it is now Mike |

While they can get away with it, they will.
Our society is dividing more and more by the day - certain small groups (energy firms, oil companies, some bankers, public sector execs, etc) are getting away with near murder (when an OAP dies from not being able to afford heating, maybe it IS a form of murder) while the rest of the World goes down the pan. Short of a major revolution, we'll simply keep getting battered with lame excuses of World recession being at fault. And a major revolution in the UK? I think not. Over here there has been talk of an increase of the "carbon" tax on fuel. I suppose it will hit you too sometime as it is just another name for excise or vat, 1982 88" 2.25 diesel

Done for what it's worth (I don't have much faith in my local MP).

Much to my surprise, I've actually had a reponse from my MP. Less of a surprise is his total lack of understanding

ARRRGHHH!!! It's the TAX that makes the prices insane! Oil prices are about 25% or less of the cost per litre.

Unexpectedly I got a proper letter in the post reply from my MP from filling out the petition. Didnt realy say very much other than she would be attending.
Who replies to email via snail mail though? What a waste of taxpayers money. Pete |
