Were bullbars and "A" bars not deemed illegal for public road use some years ago? I saw an "A" bar for sale on a site for sale but with the proviso that it was only for off road use and must not be fitted to a vehicle to be used on the road. 1982 88" 2.25 diesel

not sure of law in Ireland.

In UK they can't be sold on new vehicles but can be fitted aftermarket. Unless they are the soft pedestrian friendly ones.

Did a tour of Ireland in September with Camel Trophy early style Bush Bar on my 110.

the only Guarda I met wanted to talk Land Rovers.

Cant wait to return, fantastic country and that black beer they serve isn't half bad.

I do not think there is any prohibition with bullbars or "A" bars over here. Glad you enjoyed your trip. 1982 88" 2.25 diesel

Hopefully we'll get a review on here before too long.

Coincidentally I just pinged my local dealer in Carlisle.

They do have a Customer's car in now, just being prepped for delivery/collection

They also have a latest pre-PROD model on display apparently (newer than the last one they had) so I think I will drop in for a poke around later this week Thumbs Up Defender "Puma" 2.4 110 County Utility (possibly the last of the 2.4's)

I am interested in the Commercial version because you can get it with five seats, like the old Defender.

My L663 Commercial is great but only has two seats. lt doesn't look like Land Rover will be introducing a five seat Commercial

Lightning - I am also interested in the "Commercial"

Was in the showroom at Carlisle yesterday, they have 3 on show now, but they are all pre-prod.

They have 2 in the workshop to be collected by customers imminently, and 4 more coming in the next couple of days. Their Demonstrator is now "in the country" and they hope to have the demo on the road at the beginning of May..

This was the newest one in the (pre-prod v3) showroom yesterday, this is supposed the be pretty much as per the production models...

This is the commercial one I am considering...(basically the "USW" LR "should" have built!!!)

Is it me, but I just don't get why they are producing and delivering vehicles, but have numerous pre-production models in show rooms?

Surely you would start production, put demonstrators into your showrooms, then start supplying the preordered vehicles. I can't imagine going to a BMW showroom to be told the car you are looking at, isn't quite the finished one and parts of it may be different when it is delivered?

Is it because they are a small scale manufacturer and I am just used to how the big boys work?

It's a good looking motor though. I really like the utility version shown above.

There were five outside the Carlisle dealer today, I had a bit nosey round them without tangling too much with sales!
I have to say I’d have one in a heart beat but financially that’s just a dream. The mechanical and hardware seem very good, chassis is a thing of beauty and body appears to be close to modern standards. They’ll be in need of a fastidious preservation treatment as the new build looks ripe for deterioration but that’s the same whatever vehicle you look at.
I think they need to polish up their assembly quality and in places improve components. I’d start by recruiting top flight protective trim designers, the front inner wing liners leave a bit to be desired and I think there’s scope to add such things elsewhere.
Bottom line, really really good effort for the start of production, I wish I was placing an order.

Martin, there were a couple of commercials types there, a front seat only one and a USW type.

After driving 110s and 90s for nearly 40 years I’d have one if I was in the market for a new 4x4.

The new Defender is a fantastic vehicle but this thing just seems to suit my needs better.

If ever something happens to my 110 God forbid, I would replace it with a Grenadier.

Looking forward to real life review.

Isn't the whole structure galvanised prior to painting? I think INEOS have gone to some lengths to avoid a crusty Puma situation.

IIRC they was a big issue early on with 5 seater ‘commercials’ not qualifying, so I think it ended up that only 2 seaters would qualify for VAT and other business tax relief benefits. I think the result was that the only way to get a 5 seater to qualify would be to run it as a pool car.
