I have no idea what your roof rack/platform looks like, but here are some ideas you could plagiarise for a custom bracket. It's easy to knock up your own brackets, either out of aluminium or 316 stainless steel & tap holes etc. Use Nyloc nuts on bolt.
https://www.freel2.com/forum/topic31435.html When bending aluminium or stainless, heat as much as you can with a heat gun. With the aluminium you will get less cracking in the bend & the stainless will be a whisker easier to bend. I have a Bosch GHG 20-63 2000 watt 630°C heat gun. Use a block of wood to push over in a bench vice otherwise you will obviously burn yourself with 3rd degree burns. I tap holes in the extrusion as well as using Nyloc nuts for the tightest joins. I do this for all my projects. Maybe a bit overkill, but never had a failure on thousands of km of Australia's notorious corrugated roads. If using stainless, you may want to get an engineering workshop to bend the parts, it is very tough by hand on very small flat bar like 3 x 20mm & bend neatly. Visitor - Freelander owner |

Lightwater - Thanks for your detailed response.
I may have to attempt to fabricate something, however would prefer to buy an existing item - if such a thing exists. It seems there are lots of ready made brackets, just wanted to find one suitable for fixing to the LR rack. Thanks Andrew |

I had our awning brackets fabricated by a small company in Brookvale, Sydney Northern Beaches, Northlight engineering, they did a reverse sweep compared to a rhino rack mount, so it could fit snugly onto the expedition rack, I seem to remember another owner in the UK i believe ordered a set from them Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge yet another pommie bar steward down under MY20 110 P400 SE Defender MY10 3.0 RR Sport |

Looks a nice bracket with beveled edges & powder coated?
I needed the bracket a touch higher as the Freelander is shorter. Top of rear bracket is 1880mm. I don't live far from there. In a previous life in the 1970 > 90s I supplied aluminium to customers in Brookvale. There is the Stainless Steel shop in Chard Road. You can buy as little as one screw (crap website though!). They have 316 & 304, also Allen bolts, Nyloc nuts, toggle clips etc. Got all my SS fastenings & 316 bar from there. Aluminium Warehouse near Jaycar have quite a bit of clear anodised aluminium which is good for a more professional looking job. All parts from above mentioned & hinges from Whitworth Marine (& fuel containers 30 years ago), sand flag from ARB, all in Brookvale.
