Shouldn’t think you’d be able to fit more in that battery box LRA if you tried. 👍🏻
How many CCA does that setup have approx? Must be over 1200A at least. GBR ⛽️🛢️⚙️🧰💪 |

Changed Diff oil and greased the prop shafts in preparation for a road trip later this week.
Also checked the ECU for signs of oil creep, none detected, interestingly discovered my TD5 had a new ECU at some point, changing it from the MSB to the NNN type. I’ll have to get a nanocom on there to see if it’s running a different map or was just changed to NNN because that’s what they could get. |

LRA, great tip on writing the install date on the battery
![]() I also put one of these in and it seems a much better start-up on cold days. |

Thanks. Given the five year warranty on this battery, it seemed like a good idea. Darren

Well the replacement front diff dance begins. Emails have gone out...
![]() I am almost tempted with a 4 pin front diff rather than an Ashcroft ATB as I have heard that having an ATB only in the front makes the Defender drive like a shopping trolley and as such is inadvisable. Decisions decisions... ![]() |

Whoever told you this has clearly never driven a Defender with an ATB in the front only, or is a moron. ![]() |

I forgot the "or both" option in my last post.
![]() You will find plenty of people on here now, besides myself, who have nothing but good to say about an ATB in the front axle, but there are four-gear options which will be as strong, including the option of an air-locker, which unlocked behaves just like an open diff. The two options you probably want to avoid are (a) fitting a two-gear standard Landrover diff, and (b) fitting a four-gear standard Landrover diff, the latter because they are as rare as hens' teeth and fiendishly expensive, more so than almost every other option. Whatever you choose, swapping the front diff, whilst a bit more of a pain than the rear, can be done fairly quickly and without too much trouble if tackled the right way. |

I had my old Continentals replaced with some new Goodyear Wrangler MT/R I picked up from black circles for £116ea. Couldn’t quite stomach some KO2 at £100 more a corner. Wish I’d got five though now for the spare.
