Fireworks not allowed here unless New Years Eve... so we usually buy double and save half for next year's Guy Fawkes. We've kept the tradition and had Bonfire Night in our (pretty big) garden near Munich for the last 14 years and invited pretty much everyone we know. The German neighbours love it, particularly the cider my sons and I make - our elderly lady-neighbour gets pis*ed every year
![]() So far no police problems with our half-hour firework tirades ![]() Thought it would be good to take a year off this year - seems very quiet ![]() But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing... |

Seems to be quite a few dirty takeways round here with hand written 'fireworks sold here' notes stuck in the window...
![]() I know what you mean though, doesn't seem to be as much fuss this year as before |

My dogs love the fireworks - they come and watch them with me...more fireworks the better - bring them on, i personally like the commercial ones - £20 a rocket in the garage 1 left for maximum firework pleasure Mike

since moving to Ireland from the UK 5 years ago one great thing here is that fireworks are illegal for Health + Safety reasons except for organised displays. My father in law recently retired from the London Fire Service and you don't want to know the huge number of injuries these bloody things cause especially to children. They are too dangerous to be on general sale to the public because they too frequently get into the hands of stupid people. On me soapbox admittedly but when you see kids losing eyes and fingers due to reckless and stupid parents it ain't funny

One of the guys in the lockups went to an organised firework display at local rugby club. £3 for adults, £2 for kids.
Bonfire sort of fenced off so no one got any warmth from him. At end of the firework display (not bad was comment) some bright spark decided to get rid of the spent fireworks by throwing box on bonfire. Guess what? Not all the fireworks in the box were spent! Various rockets etc went straight at the crowd. Luckily no one was hurt. I guess Health and Safety can not really cope with the idiots of this world! Brendan |

The one we do for the Munich Ex-Pats is very careful and responsible ("retentive" is the word that springs to mind ![]() p.s. NEVER go into Munich City Centre on New Year's Eve - what with the horizontal rockets and exploding Beer glasses its like a ![]() ![]() But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing... |

A sad sad world - fireworks for the public should never be made illegal - but then many things that are shouldn't be...yes they are dangerous, but so is walking across a railway line when a train is coming. Mike |
