Went for a Sunday afternoon tootle around the single track back roads locally this afternoon ( a Sunday drive on Friday!) in heavenly weather although normally from where I parked up you can see The Wallace Monument 17 miles away but a bit too much haze today.
Taken on the back road between Gartmore and Drymen in Central Scotland - 40 minutes out of the big smoke that is Glasgow but 5 minutes from home! Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Even a tiny bit of off-road space available! Click image to enlarge Lord knows what birds use this size of nesting box - we do have 15 pairs of Osprey around these parts but they tend to nest around the Lake of Menteith which is a stocked fishing lake so easy meals for them. Wonder if it’s an owl box Click image to enlarge Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come 2020 D240 1st Edition in Pangea Green with Acorn interior. Now gone - old faithful, no mechanical issues whatsoever ever but the leaks and rattles all over the place won’t be missed! |

That does look like an owl box, in Kielder we have Ospreys and they use flat platforms at the top of a high pole or tree to nest, they are built by the Forestry Commission and a group that monitors the birds Cheers Ian -------------------- 22MY Defender 110 D200 SE, Fuji White. Hairy Dan - we have not only Ospreys here but also White tailed Eagles - this is Central Scotland about 5 miles from the Lake of Menteith in the Queen Elizabeth Forest Park.
On Sunday a group of us eating lunch up on the hills on the south side of Loch Tay, above Killin, watched an Osprey catch a large fish in a reservoir only for it to be descended on by 2 White Tailed Eagles trying to force it to drop the fish - they didn’t suceed Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come 2020 D240 1st Edition in Pangea Green with Acorn interior. Click image to enlarge Took the 90 on its first long motorway trek today - Stirling to Harrogate. Queue Assist was a godsend on the A66 between Penrith and Scotch Corner/ A1M - it seems work well and I was surprised it even worked when the auto Stop/Start cut in. Really enjoyable drive (A66 bit aside) in comfort with AC running at 17 and the first use of the cooled seats - not really that impressed! I managed to eek out 235 miles on 40% of a tank of diesel despite uphill and down dale as well as some quite spirited driving, I had allowed for arriving here in Harrogate with half a tank. The D240 was good at m’way hauls but the D250 is really in its element and bags of power for having a blast past middle lane hoggers! Looks like I need to back it up a couple of feet closer to the dogroses to prevent anyone testing out my spare wheel security system!
