Td5 Alternators can be awkward at the best of times. Just keep them clean if you can. No real way to to this though.
Don't be tempted to fit cheap units as they can contribute to battery drain issues. |

we struggled with td5 alternators on a comp vehicle in a big way after the inner wings had been removed. an additional plastic 'crud' guard was made up to protect the back of the alt and since then she has been sound. try improvising something to go around the alt to protect it from the muck. Cheers

Make sure you're the first one through the water.
That way there's no suspended mud or grit to get into it |
