2007 Defender 90 Puma 2.4 CSW Zermatt Silver

Price increases?

Hi all

Anyone had a quote from A Plan recently?

Looking at buying a 1998 300Tdi 90. After using the comparison sites I decided to try A Plan. I have used them previously on a 2003 TD5 and ended up with an excellent policy, which also covered off-road use, for less than £150. The quote for the 300Tdi came in at over £300 with the option of a classic car policy for £190.

Maybe I’m being naive but I would have thought that a 300Tdi would have been cheaper to insure than a TD5?

I renewed in January with them, joint cover for Defender and RRS, the defender had gone down a little from last year. There is no rhyme or reason with insurance, everyone and every car will be different to different companies. 2015 RRS Autobiography SDV6

Jesus! I just tried Adrian Flux.

Got a woman who spoke at 1000mph and didn’t really listen to me. Came in with a quote of £485

She then became really pushy asking me to leave a deposit. I couldn’t get a word in edgeways and ended up hanging up on her….

So much for specialist insurers!

Just seen this, we don't work on commission here and are salary based... hence we don't use the pushy sales approach, it doesn't matter if you spend all week talking to me and call back the following week and take out the policy with my colleague - it makes no difference lol and I do like to think that this is really reflected in our friendly service approach... also being an advised service in comparison no non advised means we don't have to follow a script to a T, if you have a question we can answer it and offer advice.

There's so many factors in insurers the difference in 2 vehicle quotes may not be down to the vehicle itself, mileage use may be different, the drivers, one might be on the drive the other garaged, value is another big influencer, engine size and of course... theft stats in the area for certain models over others. So many factors I couldn't possibly list them all, but those would be the main ones off the top of my head.

To be fair I never suggested that A Plan was pushy, that was Adrian Flux.

Yes, I understand that there are many factors involved in assessing insurance but, on this occasion, you came in well over the price given by other mainstream insurers who offered me not only a better price but also a higher level of cover for a much cheaper price.
