Stock wheel carrier, aftermarket wheel?
Hey friends I just got my 16” Sawtooths on my 90 and man what a great improvement. Next I need to figure out how to mount the spare. I assumed - naively - that I could use the stock wheel carrier mount. But the new wheel is deeper and I would need some thic washers or spacers.

Has anyone else mounted and aftermarket wheel to the stock wheel carrier? At some point I will get a swing away carrier, just don't have the funds at the moment.

The standard carrier should have three large flat nuts that you adjust in or out before mounting the wheel.

You can see them in this post. Sorry don’t know the part number.

Thank you for the reply that looks like a wheel carrier for a PUMA. Mine is an 89 and has the older mount that literally has 3 studs sticking out. I have to closer inspect mine, but looks like there should be some kind of adjustable backing plate, and I am not sure if my car has it.

Pos 1 and 3 sandwich the rear door frame/skin.
I never fitted an alloy wheel on that bracket, just steel wheel and used 3 steel wheel nuts as ‘stoppers’ or spacer. But you may also use KTD500100 as advised earlier.

If the rim fouls that large U bolt, you may also remove it, 2 nuts behind the door card all it takes. 1988 90 Hard Top, 19J Diesel Turbo, Shire Blue - Restoration ongoing
