Thanks mark I was hoping it was a suspension damper but i have bought one so i will give it a go......sadly the back thing is an age thing/back injury ..its the micro jarring that causes the problem and the two springs might do the trick.Thanks again for your help

I did once get a lift in a Series III where the owner had taken out the seatbox and put in a flat floor to accommodate sprung seats from an HGV. The seats bounced up and down a good couple of inches when greenlaning. I was sitting in the back, and I was terrified the mechanical contraption would chop the ends of my feet off. It was like a whirring guillotine under there. So it can be done (in a Series at least), but I'd suggest some sort of guard. Also, hanging on to the steering wheel for dear life while on bumpy tracks. I'm pretty sure it was almost as effective as the ejector seat in James Bond's DB5.
