What do you think of these
Just looking for opinions on these Defender headlight protectors, l think they may look good, but what do others think.

Not sure I'd want anything impeding the output from the lights! https://instagram.com/bentheoandrews

One advantage of LED lights is that when driving through muddy water, Salisbury Plain for example, the dirty water just rolls off the lens.

Whereas with halogen bulbs the lens heats up and the muddy water bakes, and hence the lights need cleaning.

Where I'm going with this is that light guards can be counter productive.

But in your case you will be fine, they look good.

If the tape is not 3M Very High Bond Tape then its worth changing it before attaching them

Obviously only by purchasing them will you see what the quality of the product and fit is like.

Thumbs Up

Okay l will try a set and report back.

l'll fit one, and see if there's any noticeable difference in light output. Although there wasn't with the lamp guards on my old 110.

l didn't actually like them on that vehicle but they were on when l got it, and removing them would have involved some bodywork to get rid of the rivnuts.

Not sure how much “guarding” they really offer. Suspect it is more of a styling thing. But why not if you want too.

I was going to buy them off a chap on the forum until SWMBO questioned the ability to clean the lights. Think they look great though and can't imagine them making much if any difference to light output.

l've ordered a set and will report back when they arrive.

Most sellers are in China only one is in the U.K. Will be interesting to see if the quality is good enough to fit on a new Defender.

l notice Powerful U.K. aren't offering them.

Well, they've arrived. They look well made, although they are only cosmetic really, l guess they'll stop a larger object like a bird or piece of wood from hitting the light.

Just waiting for the rain to stop, then l will fit them and post some photos.

I enjoyed the fact that the metal light guards are apparently somehow going to help prevent rusting of the polycarbonate headlights or maybe their plastic surrounds… Rolling with laughter Cheers, David

Yes it's clearly a generic translation as they are made in China.

hah the seller was in the U.K.

Most are selling from China, which can mean it takes weeks. There's one seller on Ebay who is U.K. based.

But don't buy them until l've tried them out, l'll fit them and see if they are any good. l actually don't like the sunken lights l think it looks unfinished, these will hopefully make it look better.

I read an article by LR designers on why the head lamps are recessed in. (sorry I cant find it at the moment)

but the rear lamps were changed, before production, to have the same look.

something to do with dirt/spray.
