United Kingdom 2002 Defender 90 Td5 HT Caledonian Blue
Starter motors
I've been looking through starter motors and wonder if there is any benefit to the high torque ones or just a bog standard £60 one would do the trick?

Mine has just died and don't know if it would be worth upgrading whilst I'm at it?

5.0L Griffith based engine so could probably benefit from a bit more starting oomph. Having said that it never struggled before.

Any recommendations would be much appreciated Thumbs Up 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon

Well, incase anyone was wondering, I bought a powerlite reduction gear starter.

Very impressed with it and definitely more starting power Thumbs Up 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon

if there is an option to fit upgraded parts, when stuff dies, i always do if i can afford it. Thumbs Up
what you want to do, is look at fitting uprated alternator and a heavy duty diesel battery to the v8. Did this sort of thing to the rover metro vvc i had, that it fired over with a simple flick with the key Thumbs Up Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back
