I had the same jeep when I lived in Mongolia.
There was a drain tap on the radiator so we used to empty the coolant every night into a bucket and keep it in the tent. The radiator also had metal blinds on it which were closed to act as a radiator muff when cold.

I was out there in 2000. At that time, there weren't many non soviet era vehicles in the country. 90% of vehicles were UAZ jeeps or ambulances (think old VW camper style). All had the same transmission components and the same 2.5L 4cyl petrol engine,
