Just remember though that if a thief has an iPhone they will get a notification that an AirTag is following them, and they can deactivate it.
Peace of mind, yes, but not a solid tool to rely on in a theft situation. Cheers, David Land Rovers of all shapes S3 onwards… Daily is a 110 V8. |

They can. Its to stop abuse and stalking but you don't get notified immediately. It might also pick up other peoples iPhones so you still get a message but not sure.

Did a bit of research on this AirTag business, as we attached one to my wife’s car keys some time ago after she lost them for the second time! Yes, another iPhone can detect a tag and start a process to disable it but presumably the owner gets a message that this is happening. However, to detect a tag a searcher has to literally touch the tag with the top of their iPhone. So the message here is to hide it in such a way as to prevent a phone touching it.
