Sure is. I had a Grand Cherokee that had wheels finished in the similar way, never used off road etc. Once the lacquer gets damaged, does not take a lot, the corrosion sets in rapidly and the lacquer lifts - the cycle begins.

of course not if you dont fit any seats Wink

It IS a 7 seater though remember....

Disco Commercial is only a 2 seater and approved as such - if you fit extra seats it ceases to be a commercial and could give you insurance hassles.

The standard Disco 4 is a 7 seater - the commercial isn't. John

Hmm - maybe I'll leave them then. Just checked the loan 90XS's wheels and they appear robust but maybe not?

I find the Boosts are pretty tough but the finish is poor so they are a bu99er to clean. I presume they are painted not lacquered? The other car gets wheel sealed one a quarter then a pressure wash each clean - gets them instantly cleaned. The Boosts need heavy duty wheel cleaner and a wheel brush EVERY time! Still, they do come up well eventually.

I did some nerd cleaning the other day and it came up quite well.

As long as nothing else falls apart, we still like it a lot. Any other car would have been traded in long ago...!

Back to the OP - having had a grey 90XS for the weekend (and more) I have to say that they do look the mutts nuts. "Ours" has the black chequer plate wing tops, bash guards, etc and it looks the dogs. Until we all try and get in it...!! Rolling with laughter Defender 110XS SW gone... now VW California 180 4 Motion.

Totally agree about the Boosts, that's why I have ZU's now Thumbs Up

Also agree about the 90's, look brilliant, excellent off road but I find the ride on road too harsh for my old back Laughing

That's why I am looking for a 90, to use off road, and use the 110 for daily drive etc.

2nd you there Bob.....loved my 90 for the way it looked + the way it was almost overkill for the limited amount of light off road that I do......but the ride/space etc issues for me personally mean my DC is just about perfect!

And they are just that little bit 'different' Wink

*edited to add.....also, I've not really noticed any excessive noise from my Wrangler M/T's, but then , I had 285 BFG muds on my 90. The dual tone wheels are still really good on mine, but then they haven't yet been through a salty Winter!

They are called Dual Finish alloys VPLDW0001YCM and I think they are about £750 as an optional extra unless a branch franchise manager made a mistake and sold them with the vehicle when it should have had Boosts on it Whistle "Your right sir, it should have boosts on, oh well they are yours now, nothing we can do about it, the manager has signed the vehicle off as it is" Very Happy

They look nice but the diamond cut is not as robust as the Boost type (would scratch and show up scratches more!)- I prefer Boosts and think they look better than the Dual Finish, the latter are a bit too bling for me! Hmm maybe not, they do look nice....

Paid £300 + vat in March as a factory fitted option for the Dual finish alloys,,
As for damage etc,, unless they are completely different to the finish on the SVX alloys,, i had on the SVX, should not be a problem, that was used as LR intended Whistle
But then, for serious offroad, a set of old boosts are fitted or i take the 90 Thumbs Up California F1, 75th 110 "Kermit", 50th Ann V8, 90 V8 Hybrid, 55 Series 1

I'm thinking about possibly selling my 2009 Puma 90 XS SW... But am looking to replace it with a similar spec 110 Puma. USW or CSW. Currently on just short of 35000 miles and unlikely to do more than 5000 this year.

This post seems to have been subverted from it's original course Rolling Eyes but rather than fight it, I thought I'd just roll with it.

Can anyone point me towards some photos of a 90 (or 110) in Stornoway grey with anthracite ZUs?

Thanks

EDIT: I found one

I got a Puma!

A one owner 2008 90XS in Stornoway grey with 6,000 miles on the clock Shocked and pretty much spotless condition

Standard except for a factory fitted winch Very Happy tow bar and front and rear rubber mats (I negotiated the latter into the deal along with 12 months road tax a full tank of fuel)

Bought from a dealer so 12 month warranty included.
