Interesting. I am in the process of stripping an early 1999 Td5 and have a later 2003 Td5 as well so looking at harvesting/swapping some parts over where beneficial.
Looks like apart from some holes and (I assume) permanent R380 tunnel v bracket, the wiper bracket is the biggest change. What exactly is the improvement this wiper bracket makes? Less noise transmitted? As far as I can tell the motor assembly is the same no? |

Actually just looked and there is a part number change at 2001
https://www.lrparts.net/rtc3867-front-wipe...-gear.html https://www.lrparts.net/lr082012-front-wip...ables.html But they look a bit the same. Reason I am asking is that my 2003 has (what I think) a fairly loud wiper motor, but I never had the 1999 wipers working. I was thinking maybe something wrong with the 2003 wiper motor. Anyway sorry for high jacking the thread.. |

I was hoping to post the pictures from your thread that show the inside of your original and new bulkhead. The wiper motor is still attached to the original and it’s plain to see the change on the new.

Can’t imagine there’d be much improvement with a new bracket but the raised position would be a more straight assembly which perhaps equals less strain. |

Actually looking at the two again, it looks like the heater box opening is larger which would have interfered with the (old) wiper motor location.
So really they fitted a bracket to raise the wiper motor to accommodate a larger heater?? Fascinating the anatomy of cars I find. Small difference for a reason |

Interesting, my 02' TD5 bulkhead does not have either of the holes in the centre (oval and rectangular)! No idea what they are for? Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Steve 02' 110 TD5 Double Cab Rebuild Thread |

I ordered mine new from Land Rover (Duckworths) so I wonder if it was made later towards the Puma era of bulkheads hence the extra holes? 1999 Defender TD5 110

Is the larger hole for Puma heaters? I can't recall if the hole was made smaller with a plate or left as is when the work was done. 1999 Defender TD5 110 Regards John M0VAZ Econet Station 48 no clock |

Possibly so, the heater hole above the passenger footwell is definitely larger on yours. I guess they possibly make a basic bulkhead and just weld a few brackets on to suit TD5 or TDCI rather than having totally different pressings. 02' 110 TD5 Double Cab Rebuild Thread
