I used my D240 to tow our off road trailer/caravan all around Southern Africa. It towed fine but the fuel consumption was terrible and in thick sand it was worse than a v8.
I have since upgraded to the D300 and it's more power, more refined and sounds a lot better. It also doesn't sound like you driving it hard when cruising around.

Here is a video I made using the D240 towing in Sand. I miss calculated completely and had to borrow fuel to get to the next fuel station.
