Navigation Auto-Zoom
Has anyone got the navigation Auto-zoom working? Mine doesn't, so travelling on a motorway at 70mph I just get about 500m of motorway (if that) and the arrow moving along it at speed.

I've tried changing it to "off" - no change.

This happens in all modes (North Up, 2D and 3D).

Does auto zoom not only work when you have navigation set. I.e come up to junctions and map zooms in, which mine does. 110 XS 250 MY 23 Gondwana Stone, Cold climate pack and towbar

The issue is that it is always "zoomed in" and doesn't "zoom out" when travelling fast.

So, for example, I can't see where I am on a journey - e.g between Leicester and Loughborough on the M1. Just that I'm on the M1 - somewhere. It's so "zoomed in" that it shows both carriageways of the motorway. This can't be right.

FWIW it doesn't appear to change the zoom when approaching junctions.

I have the same problem.. I usually set the zoom in for town driving. But that means when I'm coming up to an unfamiliar motorway roundabout, it's not easy to see which lane on the slip road I should be aiming for.

Are you using carplay or the pivipro nav?

I dont really use pivipro, but I find the manual zoom on carplay (google/waze) is pretty clunky - I haven't figured out how to tell it to autozoom.
Waze is worse as the cartoon icons are so large if you zoom out for motorway driving, they often block out the entire junction i'm trying to navigate.

I run Android Auto (Google Maps) on my 10" Pivipro screen and the inbuilt LR satnav (in satellite view mode when it can actually be bothered to download the images) in the space between the dials (on the full size interactive display) - I find the combo works really well no matter what speed I'm doing (sadly no photos at the mo) Steve N | 21MY Defender | 08MY Discovery 3 (history) | 06MY Discovery 3 (ancient history)

I hadn't previously dug into the settings deep enough to find the toggle, but I eventually found it hiding in the settings/apps menu. It was configured to auto-zoom as a default setting. And seems to be working ok for google maps. I'll check waze and pivi-pro tonight.

I'm not sure about android though..

It's the pivi-pro navigation on the main screen (not the IDD) that I'm interested in/have the problem with.

Strangely, whilst typing this the dealer rang me (on another matter) and on me mentioning the zoom admitted it didn't work. Clearly it's a software issue.

Should there be auto-zoom when there is no guidance to a destination?
I tried this morning and auto-zoom only works for me when I have guidance to a destination. 22MY Defender 110 D300 S in Pangea Green and Contrast White Roof

Yes, I’ve noticed if you put destination in, then the system shows the route and zoomed right out. On my previous 2014 X-trail the Nav system would dynamically zoom in/out depending on speed.

The current LR system is permanently zoomed in which makes it useless at higher speeds on motorways..

I tested the pivi-pro this weekend.

Things I noticed:
1. It did autozoom at certain points - it was a bit clunky. I think it triggered when it approaches an important junction. It didn't seem to be speed related.
2. I was travelling around 20mph in the city and it was zoomed out a little too far. But for a motorway, at 70, it was probably a little too zoomed in. I didn't test it at speed.
3. The IDD seemed to be slightly more zoomed in than the main screen.
4. When a junction approached I was inundated with turn indicators The main map + a pop-up in main map + the IDD main map + pop-up in IDD.
5. Both Google Maps and Waze (CarPlay) autozoomed better and more consistently than Pivipro.
