I had the same with LV. Trying to roll-over old insurance (£350pa) on a Nissan X-Trail to the new Defender they quoted me over £3000 pa!
Try Admiral, they were around £525. |

It seems insurance has massively jumped. My last insurer didnt offer a renewal because they doubled there price...loads were coming out around £900 rather than the 400, despite no changes...eventually i got it back round to the same price
A Plan didnt call me back twice this renewal time Mike |

Thats odd.
I'm going back to APlan when my multiyear is up. Not always the cheapest but good cover and great service. |

I went with Adrian Flux - £420 and it is my first defender, with no NCB to add, although they made allowance for the 19years NCB on my Caterham 7.

£420 is good for flux on a new defender.
They havent been anywhere near on any new land rover - £950 this quote round. Double the price Mike |

Well I was just about to post my rant that Direct line just increased our premium to £478 for renewal from last years £256 but it seem this is a trend.
Not sure how they're justifying that scale of rise its not our risk/experience so have repair costs doubled, Cheapest alternative on the compare sites was Churchill at £325. Sigh, weird how my wages haven't doubled in the last 12 months along with my bills. Gary 3 Landrovers |

My 3 A-Plan policies reduced slightly this year due to change in use, so I was very pleased with them. James
