Hi, to remove the spare wheel carrier from the rear door, remove the interior trim panel to gain access to the nuts. Remove all visible screws, fixings and the bar. Then prize out the clips, be careful not to break the clips or the panel, a trim tool helps.
Refit the original bolts, M8x50, or new ones to plug the holes. Click image to enlarge |

I plan to do the same, then store the spare in the load space. Still working out how I will mount it securely. Possibly with this https://ibuiltkits.com/product/floor_mount...wQAvD_BwE.
Are you doing the same? if yes - what is your plan? MY15 D90 |

I've removed mine to the loadspace. I lay it flat on the floor against the bulkhead with a sheet of ply on top of it. The sheet of ply brings the floor up to the same level as the wheel arches and so creates a large flat area for the dogs.

I like that! Anyone know if anything similar is available in the UK? I don't remember seeing anything like it. |

Why not use a bulkhead mount like this, or I'm sure you'd even be able to find an original second hand - they were fitted to pick ups & soft tops as standard.
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/234778703924?va...gLtyvD_BwE It does reduce the space in the load area though! |
