That's a shame - I wouldn't choose to put the seat in the 3rd row of a 110 - after all that is why we'd get a 110, so we can just put dogs & luggage back there! Would it not fit on the 2nd row, behind the passenger seat, with the passenger seat pushed all the way forward? Or in the middle seat, so it's above the cubby? This would be ideal. For us I suppose it depends when we can afford to change the LR - maybe he'll be facing forward by then, so it won't matter - I presume there is room enough for child's legs with forward facing? If not we'd have to look at FL2s or D3s. Fits in the Golf ok, but not with me sitting in front (I'm 6'6''). |

No problems forward facing (my little boy sits behind me) - although it's not mega roomy. Might be worth trying your rear facer - I didn't actually try ours and we wanted an easy to remove seat anyway (removing a Multi Tech is a right faff IMO!). Another concern was the distance to the floor - on a normal car, the floor is closeish, on a Defender it's quite a way down. I wasn't sure if the supporting leg would reach? I might be wrong though. Middle seat could be an option! Even at a mere 5'8" I still need the drivers seat fully back when driving! Defender 110XS SW gone... now VW California 180 4 Motion. |

Yes, I'm on Mud Rails!
The extending leg reaches the floor (just) in the 90 rear. If it was a little short in a 110 I'd probably make a custom pad out of ply for it, maybe under the floor mat..? (It was short when fitted to the front seat). The main faff with moving it from car to car (like when grandparents 'borrow' him) is the restraining straps, the rest of it is no worse than any other car seat... At least when the straps are fitted to the car they just buckle to the seat, so I tried to order an extra pair to leave in the LR - but the supplier phoned a few days ago to say they couldn't get any. I'm going to try Britax direct when I get around to it. |

Ads - I have a spare pair somewhere (we used them in our previous Jimny) - I'll see if I can find them. Defender 110XS SW gone... now VW California 180 4 Motion.

Ok - how did you manage to get hold of them?
If you don't use them and want to sell them, I'd be interested of course... We'd just have to check that the buckles look the same, first! |

Bought them from the same place we bought the chair - here: http://www.carseat.se/store.html (bottom LH of page) I'll have a look for ours (used them about twice) but it's one of those things that could be anywhere! Will do some searching... Defender 110XS SW gone... now VW California 180 4 Motion. |

Thanks DofE - looks like they are available for £20, so I'll order some - probably not worth your effort of looking for & posting them!
Then if you pass the seat onto anyone else, you can give them the spare straps too. |

Exactly the same experience here too, Tack. No ISOFIX in my '07 Defender though. Maxicosi Cabriofix is a brilliant fit and a good seat. |

Has anyone modified the rear seat to weld two brackets per seat so an ISOFIX child seat would slot right in?
We have a defender double cab and a Disco 3 and that's all it is on the the Disco 3 (and my old Audi), just a couple of U shape brackets welded to the seat frame that you click the ISOFIX seat into. You would then secure additionally with the seatbelt. The child seats are so unstable in the double cab seats without ISOFIX I'm seriously thinking about doing this or visiting a scrap yard to source the brackets of another vehicle and welding to the seat frame. Any thoughts? |
