Long term ownership
Anyone planning to keep their new Defender indefinitely, as in, not change it every three years for a new one.

l planned to keep mine for probably ten years, longer if it's still good after that time, by which time it will be over 100,000 miles.

Do people think the vehicle is capable of a longer lifespan, obviously if looked after, l see plenty of early (2005/6) Discovery 3's still driving around and looking good.

But not so many old Range Rovers.

I am hoping that the Defender is more of a "Discovery" than a "Range Rover" in terms of lifespan !!

I kept my first D3 for 14 years and 235,000 miles. My plan is to keep the Defender for at least 10 years, assuming it does what I want it to do. Thumbs Up

I usually change regularly but given the current situation with price increases and LR supplying vehicles with bits missing I think I’m the 110 for the long haul. 24MY 90 D250 HSE, Tasman Blue

I'm planning to keep mine for at least 5+ years. Kept my FL2 for 6 years from new (with the extended warranty which got some use Wink ), the Disco Sport I traded in early for this Defender. Current vehicle: 2020 Defender 110S
Gone: Defender 90 HT 200Tdi, Discovery Sport, Freelander 2

We had our d2 td5 for 22 years , 460000 kms had a lot of extra kit for out back travel, no rust problems here in South Australia, Maintaining it became to expensive. Had the d250 110 almost 18 months 25000 kms and all ok We tend to keep our cars till they are very well used.

Actually bought it with the intention to keep it as a permanent part of my small LR line up.
Definitely want to keep it as main car for another year or two, before giving it an early retirement from mundane everyday use.
The first 20seconds of the official LR V8 clip showing the line up next to the classic Defenders was all it needed for me to place an order....so much for LR not 'knowing & serving' their customer base talk. m

I hope to keep mine as long as practical. Just under two years old at the moment and 47k on the clock, so we’ll see how long it lasts.

I waited a long time for Land Rover to reintroduce the Defender and ordered one as soon as they became available. My 2020 P300 only has 16,500 miles on it and I don't drive as much as I used to so I expect it will outlast me. I tend to keep some of my vehicles a long time - I've owned my 109 diesel wagon for around 44 years, my 88" for about 29 years and my Defender 90 for 17 years. I had a Porsche 356 that I owned for 47 years but sold it back in 2018. I've had a lot of cars over the last 53 years but I've had at least one Land Rover in the driveway since 1972.

Keeper, The P400 110 is just over 2 years old and we plan to keep that as long as it keeps going, it
is our last major vehicle purchase with the exception of finding a series 2 airportable in a few
years time to add to the collection (learnt to drive in one during my Army days, so sentimental value)

That's a great photo, both vehicles look lovely and the house isn't too bad either!
