2009 Defender 110 Puma 2.4 SW Santorini Black

Defender stuttering and banging noise when driving

My car has started to have some issues, it’s a 2.4l puma with around 180k kms. Generally around 1500 revs it starts stuttering and at the same time it makes a banging noise which feels like it’s coming from the drivetrain but hard to tell. Given the stuttering of the engine however I feel like it’s not drive train related. The care idles with no issues at all. I have recently had some electrical work done as I had my wiper motor replaced and some earth issues but no idea if that’s related at all.

Possibly VCV on that engine which can cause diesel knock.

Are you sure it’s not something simple like transmission brake binding?
