Think you may struggle without a lot of work.
Pretty sure that the Dakota dash is CANbus driven, but the td5 doesn’t follow the full CANbus protocol so would need either an intermediate controlled to convert the td5 signals. |

Are you looking to just update the instruments or the whole dash?
I upgraded my TD5 110 to the Puma dash including the instruments - not for the feint hearted, but I am very pleased with the results. Click image to enlarge Since this pic was taked I have fitted the genuine Puma centre console and the Puma gearstick and transfer box shifters |

Hi guys! Yeah I’m planning to keep the dash, just keen for the instrument display as pictures in the last thread. Anyone know of anyone in the UK that does the conversion wizardry with signals?
I might just get new seperate gauges to smarten it up and have the right measurements I’m after but feel it’s a great all in one! Thanks Martin |

Hi I am currently having a Dakota dash fitted by 4x4 Fabrication in Shropshire. Worth a call.

That's a neat solution to having more gauge information in the Defender binnacle. Not quite sure I like the bubble effect of the protective screen, but that is a minor thing really. As for whether it would work, of course it could, it is an electronic dash it is just a case of matching up the signals from the senders/sensors or installing duplicate sensors. It is after all just a more complicated/extensive version of something like the MadMan gauge. The only thing I can think of that might need a little thought is the speedo signal, but that could come from the ECU or you might have to fit a Discovery electronic speedo gear in the transfer box.
Well I never... Up until recently I lived literally around the corner from these guys and never knew they existed |

Don' t all Td5s come with electronic speed signal (transmitter in transferbox)?
I recall the signal goes straight to the odometer and then the signal gets doubled (?) and send to the ECU? I am not sure what the ECU does with the speed signal really, maybe that part can be severed safely. |

Hi Andy, very interesting! Do you have some details about the Upgrade, especially with the instruments and the wiring? A while ago the idea came up to put TD5 instruments in the Puma, I like their stile a lot more - but was unsure about the wiring... If you have some information, I'd appreciate it!
