I was at we buy any car today guy was very helpful didn’t try to cut me down and also said I could take the extras off at still get same price. I wanted to ask roughly what could you sell side steps roof rack and spare wheel cover for ? Not sure if it’s worth the hassle.

I’ve just completed a transaction through Motorway. With my Defender 90 HT due in the New Year, I decided to clear the drive early so tried a number of channels to sell my current 8-month old (non-LR] car in readiness. Motorway provided the best estimate, £2k better than my LR dealer, despite them having an in-group franchise for my car. Signing up for the first time was a bit of a fiddle without knowing the process, such as using the app for photos, and needing to send three pages of the V5, particularly as I was 200 miles from home. However, my car went in Thursday’s auction, and soon after 3pm I had an offer £1k above the estimate. I agreed the collection on Friday morning for today, the first day I was available, and at 11am the dealer’s covered flatbed arrived. After a comprehensive walk-round and once round the estate, all I had to do was wait about 10 minutes for the money to appear in my bank. No problems, no worries and a good price. I shall certainly use them again.

Ive just done the same with my XC90. Motorway were £2k better than WBAC. Sold to a Volvo dealer. Simple, painless transaction.

Would definitely use them again. Thumbs Up

Motorway use a different method, and the price is an estimate not set in stone.

Dealers bid on your vehicle and the price quoted is what Motorway EXPECT it will achieve based on previous sales of the same vehicle. The actual figure can be higher or lower.
You have the option to refuse the offer once the dealers have finished bidding.
If you accept, the winning dealer will buy the vehicle from you.

With WBAC you get an offer, take it to the nearest centre, they inspect the vehicle and give you the price quoted.

One thing with WBAC, if you don't accept their offer they often send a better one after a few days. I tried it with my 90, the initial offer was £52,240 and after a few days l got a new offer of £54,400.

I took a Skoda Yeti to WBAC to get a price, it was mint. The assessor found one very tiny mark on the bonnet and said the whole bonnet would need to be re sprayed and therefore he knocked the price by £500 from the original quote. Needless to say I didn’t sell it to them and sold it private a week later.
So yes in general they will try to find any small imperfection to reduce the price. With a new Defender that’s in demand they might be more amenable to ignore blemishes.
