Morning all,
I am looking to purchase a second-hand twin axle box trailer at some point next year. I have seen a few nice looking Ifor Williams ones already whilst gauging prices. However, having only ever bought cheap little trailers previously, the worries of buying stolen trailers has never really been a factor before. Now I am looking at paying £4-5k it is a little more of a concern for me. Does anyone have any advice as to how I would go about not walking into a load of pain? Hi Steve. If it is an Ifor Williams grab the build number and give IW a call to check it is legit or known to be stolen.

Steve, most IW trailers produced over recent years are all data tagged so contact IW as suggested by Geobloke. Defender 90XS SW

FWIW, I just bought a twin axle NUGENT trailer from Russels
One of the reasons I went for Nugent is that they use the Parabolic suspension (I know Ifor Williams does on some of it's trailers) It tows amazingly well, much better than the elastomer suspension units on some trailers. IMO well worth going for parabolic suspension... Just my limited experience Jonathan Maw at Russells Groundcare was great to deal with, and I got a great deal! Russells are not far from you, and definitely worth making contact if you are thinking of buying from a dealer - they do 2nd hand trailers too Defender "Puma" 2.4 110 County Utility (possibly the last of the 2.4's) |

Russell’s are a great company to deal with. The Nugent is a good trailer but I prefer the ifor. Not much in it. But the service from Russell’s was brilliant.

I’d buy a new trailer second hand prices are really strong. Trailers more often than not get a hard time.

I bought mine new direct from a Agri dealer which was delivered direct from manufacturer.
As others have mentioned, check the identity of it if you go second hand and I would avoid eBay. No Guts, No Glory. 🇬🇧🏴🏴🏴🇮🇪🇺🇸⛽️🛢️⚙️🧰💪 Last edited by custom90 on 29th Mar 2023 8:08pm. Edited 2 times in total |

I bought a new Bateson trailer unseen from WTL Trailers and added a few options. Very pleased with the trailer and good service from the dealer. BORG - Bucks & Oxon 4x4 Response Group

Thanks all, some good advice.
Unfortunately, there is no chance of my budget stretching to a new Ifor Williams (also believe the waiting list is currently 12+ months anyway). I am going to go over and have a look at the Blue Line box trailers as a 10'x6'x6'6" would just about be within my budget and they arent based too far away either. For info, when we bought Ifors in work, they would not commit a price on ordering but rather what the price was on the day of the delivery!
We also have ATE trailers which are well made and tow well, along with M&E trailers which looks very similar to the Ifor and again pretty good 1999 300TDI 110 CSW BMW 3.0 1972 VW Beetle 1200 2002 Dax Rush 3.9 V8 2012 Audi A3 tdi 2020 Renault Kangoo electric |
