For possibly the second time ever, cleaned it. The top of it anyway. I’ve spent a lot more time keeping the oily underneath bits nice.

Of course it rained immediately afterwards.

On my way the Race of Rememberance ( See https://www.raceofremembrance.com/ )
Happily mooching down the A55, and got into the last tunnel and battery not charging light comes on Sad
Pull into the Shell garage by Puffin Cafe to have a look, connections seem fine, dash volt meter showing around 12v....

Decided to push on the Anglesey Circuit, about 45mins of driving in the dark.
Luckily I have two other batteries in a split charge setup so I had enough power for the lights to make it there, but on the way I could see them getting dimmer Sad

The last couple of miles was just side lights.

Met up with the other chaps doing recovery and had breakfast.
Decided only real option was RAC as I was due to be there until 22:00 at least.

RAC man rocked up and confirmed 'Eratic charging'

Best course of action was to basically escort me pretty much all the way home and if needed add a battery / jump pack for exta voltages.

Early dart from the Anglesey Circuit and headed home Sad

Old alty off in 40mins and the paper work/email located for the order.
2 yr warranty Smile
But......That was July 2020 Sad Censored .

New alty to be ordered Monday.... 1999 Defender TD5 110

90 is now checker plate free, td5 bonnet has replaced the original that had checker plate and a few dents where it was attacked by a roof tile!

Just a personal thing, I know it's popular and generally I have had it on wing tops, ironically this one didn't but the tops were very pushed in.... puddles!! So it has Gdi plain tops,

Looks like I need to clean the roof.

Doors need doing but that will be a spring job, probably SP galvanised with anti burst locks.

This weekend was sorting out my failed clutch master cylinder. A fairly straightforward job but a bit of a PITA to get everything set up well. I already had a new LOF PowerSpec clutch fitted about 4,500 miles ago, so long enough for it to bed in which is what LOF recommend before fitting their Power Master cylinder.

As usual all the required fittings were corroded and refusing to budge so I was glad I ordered new LOF Power master cylinder, new flexible clutch braided stainless steel hoses from Pioneer 4x4 and a new standard slave cylinder. This meant I could cut all the exiting pipework which was loads quicker Thumbs Up

Bleeding and adjusting the pedal height took a bit of time but end result was well worth the effort. I already had the LOF Power spring fitted and in combination with the LOF Power Master cylinder gives a really light clutch pedal. It has changed the feel of the driving a great deal, changing gear is light, precise and without crunches so really happy even if it took me 6 hours Shocked

United Kingdom 2015 Defender 110 Puma 2.2 XS CSW Montalcino Red
Noticed the alarm has been triggering briefly when cranking the last couple of mornings, and suspected the battery to be on its way out.

Suspicions confirmed Wednesday evening after 10 mins with the interior light and radio on doing the Beaver/Cubs run, and having to ask one of the leaders for a cup of electric to get me started.

Nearly pushed the button on the highly recommended Yuasa HSB019 from Tanya, when I realised I'd only be about £2 out of pocket after discounts from Halfords, which is over the road from the office. Walked in to find the HSB020 was £15 cheaper (wrongly priced it turns out, but they honoured it), so not only a bigger (better?) battery but a couple of quid better off as well.

Fitted straight in, no dramas, other than it being pretty wet and dark. But then they never fail in the summer do they! 2007 - Stornoway Grey 90 XS SW - Gone

Rosco - Ideal then, both sizes are good the specs are close on both but if you have room then the HSB20 is ideal.
I have the HSB019 and been really happy with it, but if you have the room by all means go for the 20 if it fits. With the extra things I have in the battery box I’m not sure I would quite have enough room.
But both are an upgrade on the standard battery. Mr. Green ⭐️⭐️God Bless the USA 🇬🇧🇺🇸 ⭐️⭐️

Replaced the steering drop arm as the ball joint for the steering rod had some play.
All done and dusted with just one issue. The tab washer supplied is smaller in diameter than the original and unable to do two bends, one over the nut and one over the steering arm.

Off to look at parts diagrams.

Just as I was finishing the rain appeared and the light went Sad 1999 Defender TD5 110
