Does the Defender D250 diesel have stop/start and can it be turned off?

Yes and yes, though has to be switched off each time you start the vehicle. 24MY 90 D250 HSE, Tasman Blue

Places like LR Retrofits can code it out so it stays off though.

Have to say that I find the stop start on the Defender one of the best I've experienced. I presume it's partly down to the MHEV technology, but I've never once found myself wanting to switch it off (unlike on other cars).

It is very good. I don’t bother turning it off now either, unless I’m in traffic where it’s moving regularly enough that it becomes annoying. For the normal situation of sitting at a red light for a few minutes it works great.

Second the positive comments.
I've had start/stop in my last 3 cars and the version in the Defender is by far the best. Rarely felt that I've 'caught' the car out. And it makes a noticeable difference in fuel economy. If you want to turn it off, at least it's not a faff in the pivi pro and just a button on the dash. 22MY Defender 110 D300 S in Pangea Green and Contrast White Roof IG defender_japan "Hulk san" |

Totally agree with the comments, mine works really well and i only turn of if I'm in a lot of stop start traffic. my last car, a Volvo, work very irregularly and used to drive me up the wall. 110 XS 250 MY 23 Gondwana Stone, Cold climate pack and towbar
