Puma Red rear engine bracket.
As it is really hard to see and get to, does anyone know what size/type bolt holds it in?

It is quite hard to access and I cannot get any spanner/sockets on it. Mine has come loose and vibrates at 2,500 rmp......

I thought they were supposed to be removed by the dealer, before buyer collected the vehicle.

Sorry can’t help with spanner size, but they are know to vibrate loose, snap, damage hose, and loose their bolts.

They had a habit of working loose and doing what yours is doing, or due to shoddy build control chafing through the ECM harness and stopping the engine (or igniting the vehicle). Landrover's genius low-cost solution was to tell dealers to remove them.

I have always felt that they should be left fitted, after all if you need to remove the engine it is a distinct advantage to have the correct bracket (and you paid for it, so removing it is rather naughty of LR).

As far as I recall the bolts are the same size as those for the front bracket, which are M8 flange head. The fact that they are flange head means that the hex is smaller than the standard 10mm for an M8, probably 8mm AF.

Perhaps I've been lucky, mine wasn't stolen removed by the dealer and has never come loose. It did start chafing through the engine harness but it was no worse than the other seven places that the harness was chafing and at least, unlike down by the turbo actuator and at the top front of the engine, there was no copper showing through. The scary chafe was the main feed from the alternator to the battery, which was showing bare copper when flexed. How that didn't set the car on fire I do not know.

Desperately sloppy build control, very sad how little care LR showed towards the end.

I suspect that the top bolt fell out and vibration did the rest, but as you say, they can definitely fracture!
