Alpine Bluetooth Broken?
I've recently bought my first Defender 90 - a 2014 XS with the Alpine head unit. I'm having problems getting the bluetooth to work at all, and after searching through the forum I'm a bit worried that a previous owner may have tried to upgrade the firmware (against Alpine's advice).

The issue I have is that the bluetooth settings are not selectable. I press and hold Audio Setup and I can use the volume knob to find the BLUETOOTH menu. I can then press the volume knob to see the list of settings within BLUETOOTH.... but that's as far as I can go. I can see all the various options, but I can't go into those options. For example, I can see "VISIBLE M" - but pressing the volume knob doesn't do anything. According to the manual, it's supposed to let me toggle between VISI M ON and VISI M OFF.

I'm just wondering if anyone has encountered the issue I'm seeing? Note that I've tried doing a hard reset with the red button behind the front panel/fascia... but no change.

If the unit is a dud then at least i have some motivation to upgrade Smile

Search the internet for one of these.

Plugs straight in to the existing wiring and maintains a factory fitted look.

You'll need a DAB aerial, the Naka one is expensive but very good.

I'll vouch for that head unit.... I've had three Alpine units and this is by far the best yet Thumbs Up

Tempted by that Naka aerial.... Whistle

Great - thanks! Unless someone chimes in with a simple fix for my Bluetooth menu issue… then I will certainly take a look at those suggestions!

AUDIO or HFP must be set to "ON" otherwise the full bluetooth menu will not be visible. The problem you describe seems to indicate you need to first turn either audio or hands free phone on to bring up the bluetooth menu.

It describes how to do this in the Alpine user manual. I can send you a pdf if you don't have one. Defender 90XS SW
