Easy, it’s was either stolen trashed and recovered or it had had a accident and this made the perfect cheap challenge truck.
A bit like those crusty rusty barn finds all you need is the registration document, cut off the chassis number and a healthy bank account and the whole thing can be rebuilt as a new classic. |

I bought mine cheap and did some minor restoration and cashed out in 2012 at around £12k on the thinking that a petrol 12mpg defender is a thing of the past.
I miss it in monetary terms but I still prefer a remapped puma any day over the gutless V8 combined with slooooooow autobox  I’m pleased I experienced the 50th but it’s certainly not worth the silly prices asking at the moment.
