Smaller Roof Rack / Baskets...

Afternoon All.

Looking for any experience with aftermarket roof racks/baskets.

I don't really need a full length roof rack, but might, on occasion need to carry bulky gear (tents, boxes) and a dog in the boot.

I saw Thule and a few other companies offer roof baskets which attach via roof bars. I was hoping for some real world experience/guidance/dos and donts. (For example, I read the broken roof rail thread and am definitely not interested in getting into a similar sticky situation!)

So what are your thoughts?

In order to have 1/2 roof rack - basket, you must have ....

1 roof rails fitted

2 cross bars fitted

then the basket fitted.

Whilst this is a gutter variant, also steel, on a Disco 2.

Market'ed by ARB, may be they build an aluminium one that attaches aluminium cross bars ????
